TCF - Quebec Immigration

Description

The TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) for Quebec has been designed to meet the requirements of the Quebec authorities, who make it compulsory and systematic to take standardized French tests and examinations as part of the procedures for obtaining the Certificat de Sélection du Québec (CSQ) leading to the issue of a permanent visa. French and French-speaking people are also affected by this measure.

The TCF Québec is made up of 4 modular tests assessing competency in French as a general language. Each candidate may choose to take 1, 2, 3 or 4 of the following tests:

Listening comprehension: Group test: 39 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, only one correct answer)
Reading comprehension: Group test: 39 multiple-choice questions (4 answer choices, only one correct answer)
Written expression: Group test: 3 exercises
Oral expression: Individual face-to-face test with an examiner: 3 exercises

The duration of the TCF Québec varies according to the number of tests taken (from a minimum of 12 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours and 22 minutes):

Listening comprehension: 35 minutes ;
Reading comprehension: 60 minutes ;
Written expression: 60 minutes ;
Oral expression: 12 minutes (including 2 minutes preparation).

You will receive a level certificate, valid for 2 years. This certificate will assess your French level (from A1 to C2) on the scale of competence defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). For more information on the test, click here.
